The general policies on COVID-19 prevention, significantly contributed to creating a new type of waste in huge quantities. This waste is mainly composed of personal protective equipment, which is mostly made of plastic materials and plastics for single use. The use of protective equipment (masks, gloves, visors, etc.), not only continuously increases the amount of potentially contaminated COVID waste, but also changes the average density of waste. Generating additional waste at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a negative impact on the environment and public health. CED FLOROZON recognized the national legislative gap concerning the COVID 19 waste management, hence the preparation of a Policy Paper. The publication was made within the project "Be responsible for yourself and for our environment in a pandemic ”and it is implemented with the financial support of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia through the Program for the financing of program activities of associations and foundations for measures to deal with COVID -19 crisis. The publication is available in our library.
