As part of the SMART BALKAN Grant Scheme in North Macedonia, we are part of the host team for representatives from Environmental Civil Society Organizations from Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina to discuss environmental corruption challenges. During the first day of the study visit, we met with the Parliamentary Green Group members, Center for Civic Communications and Council of Inspection Authority to address the negative effects of corruption on the living environment. The main conclusion was that environmental corruption is widely spread across all branches of the economy and there is a need of immediate commited action by all societal actors.
The day concluded with a workshop facilitated by our CSO, Center for Environmental Democracy - Florozon, a recipient of the National Intervention grant under the SMART Balkans project. The focus of the workshop was on initiatives aimed at establishing an informal regional network of organizations dedicated to combating corruption within the environmental sector.
