The Center for Environmental Democracy FLOROZON started with the realization of the project "Be responsible for yourself and our environment during the pandemic" whose goal is to contribute the fight against the spread of coronavirus by properdisposal the so-called COVID-19 waste and mitigation of the consequences of the pandemic on citizens, with special emphasis on the most vulnerable social groups.
Through the procurement of 100 waste bins that will be installed in several city centers, the project will work to minimize environmental pollution from improper disposal of the mandatory personal protective masks and gloves. Additionally, the project activities are towards raising public awareness of the potential hazard to human health from the so-called COVID-19 waste and will provide consultative support to the general public with a focus on the most vulnerable groups through the already established coordination with state institutions, bodies and organs.
The project also aims to achieve cooperation and partnership with business entities by promoting social responsibility and by creating an enabling environment for new practices in the field of waste management, which will ultimately result in proposing measures and policies to improve the environmental legal framework.
The project is financially supported through the Department for Cooperation with Non-Governmental Organizations at the General Secretariat of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia and will be implemented over a period of six months.
