From June 25–27, 2025, representatives of FLOROZON – Center for Environmental Democracy participated in the Civica Mobilitas Networking Meeting held in Gevgelija, which gathered around 80 representatives of civil society organizations (CSOs) from across North Macedonia. The event served as a vital platform for strengthening cooperation, sharing experiences, and formulating joint initiatives aimed at improving local democracy and civic participation.
The three-day meeting focused on enhancing collaboration within the civil sector and exploring mechanisms for collective action in policy-making processes, particularly in the context of the forthcoming local elections. One of the central discussion points was the potential renewal of the Civic Platform of Macedonia (GPM) — a long-standing mechanism for uniting the civil sector and amplifying its collective voice in shaping public policy and advocating for democratic reforms.
A significant part of the dialogue centered on the Council for Cooperation and Development of the Civil Sector, recognized as a key institutional mechanism for ensuring continuous dialogue between CSOs and the government. Participants highlighted the need for improving communication and transparency, suggesting that regular monthly bulletins could enhance information exchange, while also emphasizing the importance of greater accountability and inclusiveness in the Council’s work.
The meeting also addressed the possibility of creating a new national platform of CSOs, inspired by the increasing calls for solidarity, cooperation, and mutual support within the civic sector.
