Inadequate treatment of existing risks in agricultural jobs is a fundamental problem in this industry, and those working alone as individual farmers are particularly vulnerable. On the one hand, the absence of an adequate and comprehensive legislative framework that will prescribe the rules for safety and health at work, together with insufficient education and non-functional institutions make agriculture in the Macedonian framework the sector that records the highest number of workplace injuries and deaths. Given that occupational health and safety is a basic requirement for a sustainable agricultural sector, it should be considered an essential part of farm management. That is why appropriate legal changes are needed, ratification of international conventions that regulate safety and health at work in agriculture, national policies and strategies that will contribute to the improvement of working conditions. For that purpose CED FLOROZON prepared a Policy Paper which will serve as an advocacy and guiding tool in the achievement of the desired OSH standards in agriculture.
