In the context of growing environmental challenges, climate change, and the degradation of water resources, citizen water monitoring is becoming an increasingly important tool for promoting responsible management of natural resources. Despite the existence of regulations such as the Law on Waters, the practical implementation of policies on the ground remains limited, particularly due to a lack of transparency, weak institutional capacity, and insufficient public participation. Citizens, local organizations, and other stakeholders can play a key role in the early detection of problems, reporting violations, and applying pressure for institutional action.
However, in North Macedonia, the concept of citizen science and water monitoring is still not sufficiently known or widely practiced. In this regard, this promotional video aims to raise public awareness about the importance of citizen participation in monitoring and protecting water resources.
Within the project “Citizen Monitoring for Responsible Water Management,” an educational-promotional video was developed. In addition to raising awareness, the video has an educational component, explaining the value of citizen water monitoring and encouraging informed public engagement in the protection of water resources.
