In celebration of World Environment Day, FLOROZON – Center for Environmental Democracy, together with partner organizations, organized a Science Caravan – an educational and interactive event held within the framework of the project “Civic Activism for Achieving a Circular Economy in Organic Waste Management.”
The event transformed the school’s science laboratory into a space for hands-on experiments and environmental discovery, where students had the opportunity to actively participate in demonstrations and learn through practical experience.
Through interactive exercises, students explored how science and sustainability come together in everyday life. They learned:
- How bioplastics can be produced from waste potato peels, demonstrating how organic waste can be transformed into useful materials;
- How biodiesel can be made from vegetable oils, showing the potential of renewable resources as alternatives to fossil fuels.
The goal of the workshop was to promote environmental awareness and sustainable living through practical education, helping students understand the principles of the circular economy and how they can be applied even in a school laboratory setting.
By combining science, creativity, and environmental responsibility, the Science Caravan inspired young participants to think critically about waste, innovation, and their own role in building a more sustainable future.
The event was organized within the project “Civic Activism for Achieving a Circular Economy in Organic Waste Management”, financially supported by the Government of Switzerland through the Civica Mobilitas program and is implemented by the Resource Environmental Center (REC) – North Macedonia, in partnership with Eco Logic and FLOROZON – Center for Environmental Democracy.
