Today, in the Municipality of Kisela Voda, we delivered the final educational training within the cycle dedicated to Nature-Based Solutions (NbS), implemented through cooperation between the Center for Environmental Democracy FLOROZON and the target municipalities of Gjorche Petrov, Karposh, and Kisela Voda.

The event was opened by Mayor Ms. Beti Stamenkoska Trajkoska, who in her introductory address highlighted the importance of urban greenery for environmental well-being and public health, emphasizing the Municipality’s readiness to apply NbS principles in the municipality’s future urban development.
The training gathered representatives from the municipal administration, local institutions, educational establishments, and civil society. Participants explored:

• the role of urban greenery in reducing air pollution and improving air quality
• nature-based approaches to stormwater management and flood-risk reduction
• measures to reduce the urban heat island effect
• the importance of biodiversity and green infrastructure for strengthening local climate resilience

This activity was implemented within the project “Nature-Based Solutions for Advancing Climate Mitigation of City of Skopje”, supported by the Embassy of Canada through the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), with the aim of encouraging a systematic approach to urban greenery and the integration of NbS into local policies and planning documents.
