Representatives of the Center for Environmental Democracy – CED FLOROZON participated in the Third Regular Partners’ Meeting of the NBS4RESILIENCE project, which took place in Šibenik, Croatia, on October 15–16, 2025.
The NBS4RESILIENCE project brings together nine partner organizations from seven Adriatic-Ionian countries with the shared goal of strengthening climate resilience through the implementation of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS). The project aims to address the growing risks posed by climate change and natural disasters by promoting approaches that work with nature to protect communities, ecosystems, and infrastructure.
Exchange of Experiences and Strategic Planning
During the two-day meeting, project partners presented progress achieved so far, reviewed ongoing pilot activities, and discussed next steps for implementation. The sessions offered an opportunity to exchange experiences, identify challenges, and evaluate the project’s potential contribution to local policies, community safety, and resilience planning. Special attention was given to ensuring that pilot interventions are co-created with local communities, reflecting their priorities and knowledge.
CED FLOROZON’s Contribution – Methodology for Local Implementation Plans
Within the session Work Package 2 (WP2) – Pilot Interventions, Kiril Ristovski, representing CED FLOROZON, delivered a joint presentation with the Lead Partner PREDA (Development Agency of the City of Prijedor). The presentation focused on the methodology for developing local implementation plans based on the Nature-Based Solutions approach. It emphasized the importance of co-designing solutions with local stakeholders, mapping relevant actors, and ensuring a unified methodological framework among project partners to guarantee comparability and replicability of results across the region.
CED FLOROZON also highlighted its experience in stakeholder engagement and participatory environmental governance, contributing practical insights from the organization’s ongoing initiatives in North Macedonia.
Strengthening Climate Resilience through Collaboration
One of the project’s key objectives is the establishment of Local Climate Resilience Forums – platforms for dialogue, planning, and joint action between municipalities, civil society, and technical experts. These forums are designed to foster participatory decision-making, ensuring that climate-resilience strategies reflect both scientific evidence and community needs.
The meeting in Šibenik reaffirmed the partners’ shared commitment to advancing regional cooperation, knowledge exchange, and innovation in the field of climate adaptation. Discussions also focused on future coordination, cross-border pilot actions, and opportunities for scaling successful NBS models throughout the Adriatic-Ionian region.
About the project
The NBS4RESILIENCE project is co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg IPA ADRION Programme. It promotes the joint development and testing of pilot interventions based on Nature-Based Solutions to enhance climate resilience across participating countries.
