Today, we participated in the second workshop of the Working Group responsible for the preparation of the National Strategy for the Prevention of Corruption and Conflict of Interest 2026–2030, within the sector “Environment, Energy and Natural Resources.” The workshop was organized at the premises of the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption.
The focus of the workshop was on the development of precise and feasible measures for preventing corruption in the management of the environment and natural resources. Within the discussions, our team provided concrete proposals aimed at addressing systemic weaknesses and strengthening institutional accountability.
Our contribution focused on several key priorities:
- Digitalization and full transparency of procedures for issuing integrated environmental permits and concessions, through the establishment of clear procedures, standards, and publicly accessible online registers available to all stakeholders.
- Strengthening inspection oversight by introducing risk-based planning systems, enhancing the human and technical capacities of inspection services, and improving coordination between national and local inspection bodies.
- Clarifying the responsibilities of local self-government units, particularly in the areas of urban planning and environmental protection, in order to increase transparency and accountability at the local level.
We are confident that integrating these recommendations into the National Strategy 2026–2030 will contribute to stronger and more accountable institutions, as well as to the consistent protection of the constitutionally guaranteed right to a healthy environment.
