In cooperation with the Municipality of Gjorche Petrov, we held an educational training dedicated to Nature-Based Solutions (NbS), intended for employees of the municipal administration, educational institutions, and local civil society organizations.
Participants had the opportunity to learn about practical approaches for applying nature-based solutions in urban and peri-urban settings, with a focus on:

• improving air and water quality;
• managing stormwater and reducing flood risk;
• reducing the urban heat island effect;
• protecting and enhancing biodiversity;
• increasing the climate resilience of local communities

Through examples such as green roofs and walls, rain gardens, protective green belts, and urban greenery, we explored opportunities to improve quality of life and support sustainable local development in the municipality.
This activity was implemented within the project “Nature-Based Solutions for Advancing Climate Mitigation of City of Skopje”, supported by the Embassy of Canada through the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI).
